Back to school, Back to Work

While summer in Canada is slowly coming to an end, we are all preparing to get back to school and back to the office. After many months of working and studying from home, very short commutes combined with awkward zoom conferences it may not be easy to go back to the “old” normal.

Some of us will need help to get back to morning routines, commuting, going back to office attire as well as being out and in public. Businesses need to recognize this new normal and adjust their marketing to stay relevant and on point.

So, what should the marketers focus on?

Be Empathetic

Maintain a personal tone. Embrace the opening of the market while remembering the difficulties we all faced over the past year.

Create Back to School, Back to Work offers

We all want to get out. Give your customers a reason.

If you operate a dental office-offer back to school, back to work promotions to help people get their smiles back. If you own a fashion boutique- help them choose the best office attire and offer a free consultation. Every business has something to offer consumers that are going back to their normal pre-pandemic life. Think about an offer you can create around this major step in 2021 and promote it everywhere. Social Media, email blast, local advertising, etc. If your offer is relevant and resonates with your customers, they will act on it.

Align with New Reality

Although many of us are going back to the offices, the pandemic is not over yet. People are still concerned about COVID, and they need to be reassured that you are adhering to all the safety measures. This is where the marketing comes into the picture. Highlight the delivery or pick up options for these that are still not ready to go out in public, explain how you are keeping them safe if they choose to come to you: from air purifying systems to multiple hand sanitizing stations, to strict cleaning protocols – let them know that their safety is your priority.

Use Local Marketing

Local marketing was always effective for small and medium business, but it became more important than ever in the last 15 months. Consumers want to support local communities and business owners that were hit the most during the pandemic and #supportlocal became a major theme in many marketing campaigns.

Implement Video

Video was one of the major tools used during pandemic to connect people: friends, relatives, students, work teams, brands, and consumers – all of us communicated through videos. Videos help reach consumers in the most engaging and effective way, they easily convey complex information in a fun and concise way, and they help grab attention like no other communication tool.

If you want to know more about local marketing, effective communication, and the art of creating short and engaging videos to promote your business, we are here to help. Our team of local experts will be happy to chat and answer any of your questions. Giver us a shout, we are just a phone call or an email away.
